Alison believes in each individual’s capacity to care for ourselves, make space for healing, and gently turn to a life that we want. She approaches each client as an individual with unique wounds, perspectives, strengths, and resources. By facilitating the client’s awareness and connection to themselves, Alison strives to help her clients discover and recover their innate ability for growth and healing.

Alison’s practice experience spans across community-based grief specialist centre, private outpatient psychiatric care, and youth in community and out-of-home-care settings. She continues to work with clients who have goals such as improving self-esteem, understanding themselves for personal growth, improving relationships, managing trauma and mental health symptoms in daily life, regulating emotions, reducing suicide ideation and self-harm coping, and integrating grief, loss and transitions into their lives.

She is primarily a talk therapist who is using trauma-informed approaches to strengthen stabilisation and safety in her clients’ lives. Currently, Alison is pursuing further training in Expressive Therapies and Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR) to equip herself with more modalities to support her clients.

Ruth is a social worker and counsellor with over 18 years of experience supporting individuals, couples, and families through challenges related to family violence, mental health, and suicide. She has worked in a variety of roles – including counselling, leadership, and training – across community, residential, and faith-based settings. Ruth is currently a Principal Social Worker at a sexual assault care centre.

She believes strongly in the strength and resilience that each person carries, even in the face of pain and difficulty. She works closely with them to support, create a safe and respectful space for healing, growth, and personal change. Her approach is guided by the belief that we all have the capacity to move toward a more whole and integrated self.

Ruth is also committed to her own personal growth. She actively works through her own fears and challenges so she can better understand and connect with the experiences of others. She believes that it’s important not to ask of her clients anything she wouldn’t be willing to face herself. Outside of her professional work, Ruth finds meaning and balance through creative and physical activities, including pottery and long-distance skateboarding. These personal passions are an important part of how she stays grounded and connected – values she brings into her work with others.

Gloria Kong is passionate about empowering individuals to live an adaptive, effective, and contented life. She has a lot of experience in teaching, training, and coaching youths and adults, especially those in education, human resource, and social services.

As psychotherapist, she works with individuals of different ages and social backgrounds. She employs a wide range of therapeutic modalities, particularly attuned to Brainspotting Therapy (Certified practitioner, and Consultant), Person Centred Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. Besides client works, Gloria also provides clinical supervision, both general case consultation as well as Brainspotting specific case.

A trauma-informed practitioner, Gloria offers counselling on various mental health issues – psychological (e.g., stress, anger management, anxiety, depression, OCD); psychosocial (e.g., self-concept/self-esteem development and repair, growth mind set, assertiveness, etc); and life events (e.g., role adjustment, transitional issues, adolescence related issues, parenting, loss and trauma, etc). She customises clients’ intervention according to their needs, by helping them discover their resources and motivating them to meet life’s challenges with fortitude and resilience. Gloria employs a client-centred, collaborative therapeutic approach; believing therapy should empower clients to create the life they aspire. She sees herself as an active guide, helping and supporting clients through issues they face, focusing on their past, present and future, believing all these have a part to play in clients’ present self.

As an avid lifelong learner, she continues to change and impact life in and outside the counselling room. She published a book entitled “Critical Thinking for Effective Teaching and Learning” and has many years’ experience supervising and training educators. She lectures part time at a local university on “Human Life-span Development.” Her areas of interest include motivation, cognitive restructuring, optimising potential in human beings throughout their lifespan, and application of neuro plasticity into daily life.

Jo-an is a counsellor with 15 years of experience in the mental health field, having supported individuals managing chronic illness and mental health diagnoses across hospitals, community agencies, and private practices. Additionally, Jo-an serves as a clinical supervisor, guiding case managers in local hospitals and healthcare settings. She has also published research in the field of mental health, contributing to the development of healthcare practices and advancing mental health care in Singapore.

Jo-an views each client as a whole person, recognising the uniqueness of their journey. Her approach is centred around creating a safe space for deep exploration, fostering self-awareness, and helping clients integrate new insights for lasting growth. As a certified yoga instructor with a polyvagal-informed approach to trauma recovery, Jo-an fosters healing and wisdom within both the mind and body.

Recognizing the complexity of the human mind, Jo-an integrates EMDR with body-oriented psychotherapy to support holistic mind-body healing, honouring the vital connection between the two. With deep respect for the diverse ways people express their thoughts and emotions, she also brings in sandtray therapy and expressive arts modalities. These integrative approaches create a safe space for clients to access and strengthen their inner resources, express what may be difficult to verbalize, and ultimately find balance and healing.

As a locum counsellor with Trybe, Jo-an is dedicated to journeying alongside young individuals facing mental health challenges, life stressors, or crises. She supports them in building resilience, empowering them to navigate challenges and evolve into confident individuals who can thrive through important developmental milestones.

Outside of therapy, Jo-an finds joy in caring for her rescue dog and savouring a nice cup of coffee. These moments of connection and mindfulness bring balance to her life, reminding her of the importance of self-care and simple pleasures.

Justin Weng

Senior Social Worker & Head, Casework & Community Engagement Department

Justin leads the Casework & Community Engagement department, overseeing a dedicated team of professionals responsible for case management and programme engagement with residents of the hostel.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS). His social work journey includes meaningful stints at a Family Service Centre and a Special Education School, where he developed a deep understanding of working with diverse communities.

Outside of work, Justin finds joy and renewal in the wonders of nature. He is especially moved by the awe-inspiring beauty of mountain alps—landscapes so breath-taking they serve as humbling reminders of our place in the world.

Chrystella Lo

Deputy Head, Community Interventions Division

In 2013, Chrystella graduated from her Masters’ Degree in Counselling and started work as a counsellor in a residential treatment centre for teenage girls who experienced chronic and complex abuse. After 4 years, Chrystella transited to work as a counsellor in MINDEF, this time seeing mostly male clients in the military environment. Since 2020, Chrystella has taken on leadership roles in both operational and clinical teams. Chrystella believes that every person has, within themselves, raw strength and powerful resources to overcome any adverse experiences they may have faced, and to become the person they desire to become. She counts herself privileged to bear witness to many of such transformations.

Chrystella loves learning from a wide variety of fields and enjoy tinkering with possibilities of how to integrate them. She is committed to growing in knowledge of updated research, as well as seeking support for her own personal journey, as she encourages others to do the same. In her personal time, she enjoys specialty coffee, working out and travelling.

Farhan Kamsani

Head, Singapore Boys’ Hostel

Before joining the social service sector full-time, Farhan worked as a part-time camp instructor, while pursuing his studies. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Murdoch University and then transitioned into his full-time role in the sector. Throughout his career, he has served in two other Voluntary Children’s Home (VCHs) before joining Trybe in 2023. In one of these homes, he led a team of Youth Workers and clinical staff to set up a residential care service aimed at serving young people who have experienced acute or chronic trauma. He is a strong advocate of a growth-centric culture for his team, as he believes it enhances the quality of care for the youths they serve.

In his free time, Farhan enjoys outdoor activities like mountain biking and motorcycle rides. He also finds comfort in unwinding with a hot cup of coffee to end his day.

Kar Heng is a dedicated therapist who believes in supporting children, youths and adults to build meaningful connections with themselves and their life experiences. With experience in various fields, Kar Heng’s journey began with volunteering for those affected by HIV & AIDS, which sparked a lifelong interest in mental health and helping others. He has gained extensive experience in working with various challenges, such as complex trauma, abuse, self-harm, suicide, sexual behaviour issues, LGBTQIA2S+ concerns, and parent-child relationships.

At Trybe, Kar Heng treasures the opportunity to join young people on their journey and is committed to supporting them through challenges related to relationships, self-esteem, family, and personal growth. Using expressive arts approaches like play, music, poetry, and body movement, Kar Heng helps young individuals express and communicate deep emotions and memories that may be hard to put into words. He appreciates a playful and art-related approach to assist young people in discovering more about themselves.

Kar Heng is trained in Sandplay Therapy, Expressive Therapies, Art Therapy, and is an EMDR practitioner. He holds a Master of Counselling and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. He is continuously expanding his clinical knowledge and skills in trauma and mental health through ongoing training in Somatic Experiencing. Chrystella has over 17 years of experience working with youth. Starting from a personal mentorship role, Chrystella has also led small groups, outreach events and overseas mission trips. She has also taken on supervisory roles and been part of executive committees leading youth.

She completed her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (Hons) and Master of Arts in Counselling and Guidance from Nanyang Technological University. Her dissertation on Positive Psychology titled “Effects of the Best Possible Self Activity on Subjective Well-Being and Depressive Symptoms” was published in the Asia-Pacific Education Researcher.

Chrystella is trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). She is a certified Trauma Systems Therapy (TST) expert at New York University. Chrystella has worked with clients facing various challenges. These include acute and complex traumatic experiences, self-harm, eating disorders, depression, anxiety, and adjustment issues.

Chrystella has worked in a Voluntary Children’s Home and Therapeutic Group Home for more than 7 years, where she provided therapeutic services for children and young persons who experienced trauma and abuse as well as boys who are under probation for criminal offenses.

In addition, she has worked as a counsellor in the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) at the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) Counselling Centre for 2.5 years. This provided her the opportunity to be involved in overseas critical incidents, hotline management of suicidal callers and training of commanders, on top of providing individual counselling for SAF staff.

Aside from seeing clients directly for therapy, Chrystella has also been heavily involved in providing training and is certified in the Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment (ACTA).

Driven by her passion to help individuals reach their full potential, Chrystella embodies the quote by Benjamin Disraeli: “The greatest good you can do for another is not just to share your riches, but to reveal to him his own”.

Amos Ng

Since joining the social service in 2005, Amos has been doing direct work with youth through programmes, mentoring, overseas projects, casework and counselling. Upon joining Trybe in 2010, Amos worked closely with young probationers in Singapore Boys’ Hostel and supported their families in rehabilitative work for the youth. Amos was the Head of Home from 2014 to 2017. During his time in the hostel, Amos led the team to integrate discipline approaches, and operational processes with restorative practices to enhance the rehabilitative outcomes.

Following his leadership at the hostel, Amos shifted his focus to upstream work, serving youth in the community. His experience with institutionalised youth provided valuable insights in supporting young individuals with at-risk behaviours and reducing the risk of escalation into severe circumstances. As part of the Outreach & Intervention Department, Amos oversees various programmes that address motivational issues, relationship challenges, school problems, mental health, and career support for youth.

As a Social Worker, Amos sees the systemic impact of issues that a young person faces. He believes in working closely with families, schools and helping systems to enhance intervention outcomes. In 2021, he initiated mental health work at Trybe through Project ANCHOR, providing counselling support to youth struggling with mental health issues.

Amos finds great fulfillment in journeying alongside youth, helping them discover their true selves, understand the impact of relationships, and navigate the realities of life. He firmly believes that every young person possesses the potential to overcome adversities, requiring only the necessary support to unlock that potential.

Event Photographer (Ad Hoc)

In celebration of Trybe’s 26th Anniversary, we thank everyone who has been a part of our journey with the youth. Many of our youth come from complex family backgrounds with little or no support. Every day is a struggle, yet many work hard, showing resilience above their adversities in life.

Carla manages partnerships and communications at Trybe, playing a key role in developing, managing, and executing the company’s engagement and communication strategy with various community stakeholders. Her team works to raise awareness about youth facing adversities and to reach more young people through different platforms.

Carla holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts, majoring in Visual Communications, and possesses Graduate Certificates in Communications Management as well as Media Communications and Strategy. She worked in the creative industry before joining Trybe, gaining valuable experience across various sectors that have influenced her work ethics. As an active member and young leader of a youth organisation in her earlier years, Carla understands the significance of having supportive adults and communities in a young person’s life. This makes her grateful to be able to work at Trybe with passionate and inspiring individuals advocating for youth. She also values Trybe’s commitment to career advancement and work-life balance.

In her free time, Carla likes to spend quality time with her loved ones. She enjoys good food, some karaoke, and thinks cake is always a great idea.

In support of the Giving Week movement and the giving season, Project Jumpstart is a fundraising initiative by Trybe which aims to raise awareness for disadvantaged youth and fund our strategic programmes as well as our youth outreach services. With YOUR contribution, we can continue to steer away the youth from crime, improve their family relationships, and keep them meaningfully engaged in the community.

Behavioural risks among the disadvantaged youth are commonly caused by an underlying problem such as mental health issues, domestic abuse, and lack of interest in school. More often than not, their negative behaviour is a cry for help and a call for guidance. Through our ongoing intervention, rehabilitation, and reintegration support, Trybe is committed to giving at-risk youths a chance to start over, turn a new leaf, and jump start their journey towards a more meaningful life.

For most of Trybe’s youth-clients, the virus is an additional worry and expense on top of their basic needs. Coming from low-income families, most of them have already been struggling to make ends meet and to cope with their inner battles even prior to the outbreak.

Everyday Hero is a call for us as a community to step up and find our own little ways to help the vulnerable youth during this difficult time. The virus may have caused some setbacks to our daily interaction with others, but it should not limit our ability to reach out to those we serve.

OK2Talk

Summary:

At-risk behaviours among youths are caused by external factors and internal conflicts. While external factors such as financial concerns, family issues, education and employment problems are relatively easier to detect, the youths’ internal conflicts must also be addressed. And to be able to tackle these less visible issues, we must encourage them to share their stories and let them know that it is OK2Talk.

OK2Talk is an initiative that primarily champions the overall wellness of the underserved youth. By donating to this campaign, you are supporting Trybe’s services and programmes that look after our clients’ emotional and mental well-being. Furthermore, your contribution will be doubled with the Bicentennial Community Fund.

Success Story
Tim (not his real name), lived in a challenging family environment. Tim’s divorced parents (who still stayed together) argued frequently, and he found himself turning to substances as a way to escape his circumstances.

Over several counselling sessions, Trybe’s Counsellor helped Tim process his emotions, eventually asking if he was open to clinical help. Tim agreed and was referred to a psychologist who diagnosed Tim with General Anxiety Disorder, allowing him to receive the proper treatment he needed.

If we are able to guide and convince the youths that it is okay to talk, half the battle would be won.

Adli came from a low-income family and had to depend on himself to make ends meet. At a very young age, he started committing crimes and was exposed to substance abuse. Eventually, he became addicted and was soon caught.

Through extensive treatment and support, our Trybe staff worked with him to overcome addiction and helped him to reintegrate back into society. Today, we are happy to share that Adli’s life has changed completely. Apart from having goals to further his studies, he now advices his friends who are facing substance addiction on ways to overcome withdrawal symptoms.

Rebuilding relationships

Sentenced to probation at the age of 16, Gene* decided to turn over a new leaf as soon as he realised how his past mistakes deeply affected his mother. She didn’t say much but he knew he caused her too much pain. Keen to make things right for his family, Gene sought help from Trybe to understand and control his aggressive behaviour.

Making better choices for the family

Kurt* found the motivation to change because of his family. It was during his rehabilitation programme with Trybe when he realised his father’s difficulties in supporting their family and his grandmother–who was recently diagnosed with cancer. With the encouragement and support from the Trybe staff, Kurt started to make better decisions to fulfill his dream of becoming a dependable man in the future.

Many of us enter the enhanced measures of Phase 2 with heightened uncertainties. For the young population, it is even greater.

Prior to the pandemic, countless youths have been facing different difficulties in life that may not be obvious to the eyes. From financial instability, to trauma and abandonment issues, many of the youths we serve developed behaviour that puts them and others at risk.

In Trybe, we journey with every youth identifying their needs–we care, we communicate, and we connect with them. With such empowerment, our youths can learn to be responsible for themselves, their families, and the community at large. Our services, comprehensive and intensive, include intervention, rehabilitation and reintegration.

As we countdown the days leading to our National Day, we invite our community to come together as one, giving our best and care for the future generation.

Youth Rising Month: Adopt A Mask

Campaign Details

Summary:

Paul* was discharged from the hostel two months earlier because of his good behaviour. Now, he is taking up some courses in art and design. “One day, I hope to provide creative solutions to many brands that companies will be proud of,” he said.

Before Paul was sentenced to the hostel, he was living in anxiety, moving from house to house often. He never had a day’s rest and there wasn’t a place he would call home. His divorced mother was working hard, but was rarely around. At 14, he started feeding his curiosity for drugs and to earn quick cash, he started to sell the same substances he was abusing. Eventually the law caught up and he was sentenced to probation at the Singapore Boys’ Hostel, an institution managed by Trybe.

Stepping into the hostel marked his first change. He knew if he didn’t take a good chance, he could end up in jail. While he knew there would always be external influences, Paul had to fight them all to save himself. He knows life has its ups and downs. What matters is, to do his best and keep learning.

Join us as we celebrate youths like Paul this #YouthRising month. By donating $10 or more, masks will be given to the youths and their families, as a symbol of encouragement. In addition, your donation will contribute to Trybe’s services that provide utmost support for youths facing adversities. Andre Chong

Assistant Senior Social Worker & Head, Rehabilitation & Reintegration Department

Andre leads a dynamic and vibrant team of social workers who journey with young people seeking to rehabilitate and reintegrate back into society. He oversees Growing Resilient Youth in Transition (GRYT)—an aftercare service that helps young individuals transition from institutions into the community. He also heads Overcoming Addiction Ensuring Youth’s Success (OASYS)—a rehabilitation service for young people with substance addiction.

Andre graduated with a Social Work degree from SUSS. His drive in serving the youth stemmed from his experience working at the Singapore Boys’ Hostel where he gained a deeper understanding of the challenges the residents had to overcome. This fuelled his passion to work with youths beyond the walls of the hostel, inspiring them to realise their full potential.

In his free time, you’ll find Andre playing badminton and video games. He loves spicy food and enjoys sharing a bowl of mala hotpot with friends.

Ai Weig Ong

Head, Practice & Service Development Department

Ai Weig leads the Practice and Service Development Department of the organization. She focuses on establishing practice frameworks, professional training and clinical supervision. She believes that people development not only determines an organization’s success, but also impacts a youth’s success story. She advocates for the personal and professional growth of very single practitioner in Trybe.

Graduated in Social Work, Ai Weig went on to obtain her Masters degree in Counselling and in Art Therapy with the desire to integrate expressive methods in working with people. Prior to Trybe, she held other social work and art therapy positions in Family Service Centre, Youth Centre, Children’s home, Mental Health facility and Elderly nursing home. She previously served as Course Manager and Social Work lecturer in a Polytechnic. Compelled by the need for more senior workers in the sector, Ai Weig returned to direct practice and joined Trybe.

A natural artist, she enjoys crafting with leather, paper and wood. She is also charmed by quaint places.

Esther Chen

Director, Services & Programmes

Esther Chen has spent much of her career supporting individuals and families through difficult seasons since 2008 when she graduated with a Bachelor of Social Work from Monash University. Later on, she obtained a Masters in Social Work from NUS in 2017. Dedicated to supporting youth and families, she has built her career around providing compassionate, trauma-informed care and forging meaningful connections with those she serves.

Her journey in social work has spanned diverse settings—from working with children impacted by illness, abuse, and neglect to supporting youth in the justice system and guiding families through complex challenges. Grounded in empathy, experience, and evidence-based interventions, Esther’s clinical approach ensures that individuals receive the care and support they need to heal and thrive.

Now serving as the Director of Services and Programmes at Trybe, she provides leadership and oversight to strengthen service delivery, ensuring that programmes remain effective, sustainable, and client-centered. Beyond direct practice, Esther is dedicated to mentoring and equipping the next generation of social workers as an Adult Educator at the Social Service Institute training professionals in navigating child protection and family violence cases, fostering a more informed and empowered workforce.

Whether working one-on-one with clients, coaching teams, or shaping organizational practices, Esther’s goal remains the same: to create spaces where individuals feel heard, supported, and empowered to move forward.

Outside of work, she juggles life with a young family—and dreams of one day getting a full 10 hours of sleep.

MarComs Intern (Marketing / Media / Communications)

MarComs Interns (Marketing / Media / Communications)

Individuals who are passionate about marketing, content creation and engaging the public are welcome to intern with us. MarComs interns will have the opportunity to help Trybe increase its brand awareness and reach, and share about the work that Trybe does through its social media platforms and marketing materials. Interns who are creative, skilled in design and video editing will be able to contribute to Trybe’s publicity materials and videos. Through the internship, the interns will learn more about the youths Trybe serves and be their voice to the public.

MarComs Interns are expected to possess basic graphic design, video editing or mass communication knowledge or skills. They are expected to be flexible, team player and ready to operate with deadlines.

Social Service Interns (Social Work / Youth Work)

Individuals who are keen to have hands-on experience working with youths facing adversities are strongly recommended to come on board as our Social Service Interns. He/She will have an opportunity to engage the clients directly, assist with programme implementation and research, and be equipped to contribute to the social sector. Interns will be assigned a supervisor who supports them in their learning and development, and journey with him/her through the internship period.

Social Service Intern is expected to have a diploma in social sciences, and/or is currently pursuing a degree or post-graduate studies in social sciences or youth work. He/She is also expected to be enthusiastic to learn and take on new challenges.

Volunteers will be conducting structured coaching for Basketball, Soccer, Badminton, Table Tennis, Takraw, Dodge Ball, etc. Part of our intervention involves integrating our clients into a community group. Volunteers who are part of an external team are highly encouraged to assist with the integration of our clients into their teams.

Location: Within SBHL or at an external location

Requirements:

Day: Weekdays
Activity Frequency: Once a week
Activity Timing: After 3pm
Minimum commitment: 6 months or a minimum of 24 sessions.

Able to and has experience coaching the sport

Corporate Functions Interns (General Admin / Finance / IT)

Individuals who are interested to learn the corporate roles required in a social service agencies are highly encouraged to consider the Corporate Function internship. Through the programme, interns will be exposed to activities that consolidate critical company-wide support services, provided based on specialized knowledge, best practices, and technology to serve the staff team and at times, external stakeholders.

Interns supporting this function should have good knowledge and skills in general administration, finance and IT functions. Interns will play a supportive role to the different staff performing the specialized roles and will be at time, required to support other functions in the Company.

Roger Koh

Head, Operations & Care Department – Singapore Boys’ Hostel

Roger ensures the smooth running of daily operations in the hostel. Having been in the Operations Department since he joined Trybe in 2011, Roger possesses a wealth of knowledge and experience required to oversee and execute the hostel’s various tasks and manage its facilities required while on the job. He works closely with his team to provide a safe and secure environment for the youth.

Roger enjoys the working culture in Trybe, especially the opportunities to work directly with the youth. He treasures the mentorship provided by his supervisors, which he in turn models in his interaction with the residents.

Roger looks forward to a cup of hot tea in his free time.

Jeremy Tan

Head of Programmes & Rehabilitation Department
Singapore Boys’ Hostel

Since joining Trybe in 2014, Jeremy has been involved in coaching and mentoring the hostel youth. He leads a team of youth workers. Together, they look into the development of programmes that engage the youth constructively and aid in their effective reintegration into their families and the community.

Jeremy has always been interested in working with youth and he has seized the opportunity to do so in Trybe. He values Trybe’s culture of honesty and care, and appreciates the development opportunities the organisation has given its staff. Jeremy credits his growth to his supervisors’ mentoring and the exposure and training afforded to him from them since joining Trybe.

In his downtime, Jeremy enjoys a cup of Milo.

Maya Salvador

Head, Finance Department– Corporate Services Division

Maya leads the Finance team in overseeing the preparation of financial and management reports, ensuring that payroll is timely executed, and that audit and budget exercises are followed through, among many other tasks. On top of these responsibilities, Maya also ensures Trybe’s compliance with internal policies, controls, and procedures.

Maya graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy and a Bachelor’s Degree in Management Accounting. Before she joined Trybe, Maya was providing management consultancy services to a multinational company based in the Philippines and was an accountant for a training and management consultancy firm in Singapore.

Maya chose to work in Trybe because of her desire to serve the children and youth. She believes that the best investment is the one spent on equipping the next generation of young people.

During her leisure time, Maya enjoys the outdoors and good music.

Elyna Wee

Head, Human Resources Department– Corporate Services Division

Elyna’s main responsibility is to oversee areas ranging from recruitment of staff, staff welfare and benefits, to Human Resource (HR) development which includes training, performance appraisal and career planning. She graduated with an Honours Degree in Materials Engineering and a Graduate Diploma in Training and Development.

Since she started her career, Elyna has been championing the development of people. Her achievements include overseeing performance management exercises for non-managerial staff, administering training programmes, supervising external and internal scholarships, leading orientation programmes for new employees, and spearheading various HR events. Evidently, seeing people excel in their careers brings much joy to Elyna.

Prior to joining Trybe, Elyna was in China for five years with her husband who was posted there for work. She found the experience to be humbling as it presented a different perspective of life when living abroad and through these experiences, she learnt to be grateful for the little things. Elyna is convinced that giving back to society is not a want but a necessity. She aspires to build a strong HR and people-centric culture in Trybe so that more talent can be attracted to the social service sector.

Dream Builders comprises a group of 31 individuals who are guided by our vision to inspire and create a loving world where everyone, regardless of their background, can live their dream.

In collaboration with Trybe, an organization which works alongside youths to craft and build their success stories, Dream Builders aims to raise funds to support initiatives that enable these youths to rebuild their lives. We also are supporting Trybe’s mentorship program to support the youths in their journey towards rehabilitation and reintegration.

The mentorship program is built on the basis of forming a close-knitted relationship between the mentor and the youth. The mentor draws on his or her own field of experience, to be a source of inspiration for the youths to reach toward their personal goals and work towards restoring their relationship with their loved ones.

Cristela Yeo

As the Head of the Corporate Services Division, Cristela assumes a vital support and coordination role for the entire company. Her responsibilities encompass overseeing all aspects of the Division’s activities, ensuring optimal productivity and efficiency among staff. Despite the many demands of her job, Cristela’s positive attitude and amiable nature make her well-suited for the role. With exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail, Cristela maintains the integrity of company-wide information, implements structures and protocols, ensures compliance and strong governance, and provides a safe and conducive environment for all staff and stakeholders.

Cristela, who goes by the nickname Cris among colleagues, earned her Bachelor of Science in Commerce degree with a major in Accounting. Her extensive experience in office administration and serving as a personal assistant to high-net-worth individuals prior to joining Trybe has equipped her with valuable skillsets to manage the day-to-day operations of the company and keep everything running smoothly.

Cris’ love for office picnics, get-togethers, and the occasional karaoke is no joke, so be prepared!

Vimel Rajoo

Chief Executive Officer

Vimel is the CEO of Trybe Limited and a youth advocate with almost a decade of experience in the social sector.

Vimel has held various positions and successfully spearheaded multiple projects that have positively influenced the lives of many young people in the community. As a testament to his hard work and dedication, he was among the inaugural batch of the NCSS 40 Under 40 Programme.

An enthusiastic advocate for youth development and mentoring, Vimel began mentoring young individuals at the age of 19, and he has been committed to assisting them in achieving their full potential ever since. He firmly believes that with the right support, encouragement, and guidance, every young person can achieve their dreams and become a positive influence in society.

With a wealth of academic qualifications under his belt, including a Master of Business Administration and a Master in Social Work, Vimel is a firm believer in the power of continuous learning and growth. He holds various professional certifications such as the PMP and CCMP, which have honed his leadership and management skills.

As the CEO of Trybe Limited, Vimel continues to inspire and lead his team to new heights, providing the best possible care and support to youth in need. His passion for mentoring and youth development continues to drive him toward creating a brighter future for all young people in the country.

Amos Ng

Senior Social Worker & Head, Outreach & Intervention Department

Amos oversees the Outreach & Intervention Team in Trybe. The department covers casework and counselling programmes, job coaching and career guidance programmes.

He is a Registered Social Worker after attaining his Master of Social Work at SUSS. He is also trained in Choice Theory Reality Therapy among other modalities like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Satir Model. Prior to his 10 years in Trybe, he had been involved in at-risk youth programmes and also does training for facilitation skills in Experiential Learning.

After joining Trybe in 2010, Amos was involved in setting up the institution’s processes and structure at Singapore Boys’ Hostel when Trybe took over in 2011. He was also involved in the implementation of Restorative Practices into Trybe’s institutional rehabilitation approach, where it focuses on the restoration of relationships and building a sense of accountability with the young residents. From 2018, Amos started his involvement in developing the casework and counselling programmes in the community and eventually setting up youth mental health counselling.

Amos believes in the potential of every young person regardless of the circumstances they are in and every youth facing adversities can be supported to achieve his/her goals in life. This fits with Trybe’s vision that Every Youth A Success Story.

Outside his work, Amos enjoys his other full-time role as a father of a young girl. Through his time developing sports interests for residents in the Hostel, Amos had also rekindled his passion for football and he supports Liverpool. YNWA!

Bee Lian Yeo

Chief Executive Officer

Bee Lian oversees the development and execution of strategic initiatives in Trybe, ensuring impactful and sustainable service delivery.

Prior to joining Trybe, Bee Lian spent her time mentoring and coaching youths in netball and tchoukball. Her internship stint with Trybe during her undergraduate days left a significant impact on her life, and she eventually joined Trybe full-time in 2010 after graduating with a Bachelor in Social Science (Psychology) from Singapore Management University. While she had honed her skills in youth development training, programme design and business development areas during the first few years, she found her true passion in serving youths who are viewed as more at-risk. She assumed leadership of the Programmes Division in late 2014, and was involved in the progressive shift in our service direction to focus on youths facing adversities. She was involved in setting up the GRYT service in 2015 and leading the Youth-At-Risk Engagement (YARE) programme in 2016, before moving over to learn and lead the rehabilitation work in Singapore Boys’ Hostel in 2018. In 2022, she was appointed as Director, Services & Programmes to lead and oversee the development of Trybe’s services aligned with the organisation’s mission.

Outside of work, Bee Lian cherishes time spent in the company of family and close friends. She enjoys playing tennis, cycling, swimming and picking up new hobbies.
